Process equipment design

Mechanical design is a critical part of delivering reliable and efficient process plants. Head Engineering provides complete mechanical design for process equipment, plant structures and piping systems, ensuring that all components meet operational, safety and regulatory requirements.

We design and prepare manufacturing documentation for process equipment, supported by strength calculations and operating-condition analysis. We also manage required certifications and documentation for equipment compliance, and develop selected equipment designs in-house.

Our mechanical design scope includes plant layout and structural design, ensuring that equipment is arranged for safe operation, accessibility and efficient maintenance. We design and analyse piping supports, lifting devices, platforms and safety-related structures, and provide foundation data including loads, dimensions, anchor bolt layouts and drainage requirements.

We perform strength analysis across all mechanical systems, including piping, tanks, platforms and supporting structures. Our work also covers material selection, risk analysis, CE documentation and coordination with manufacturers, ensuring a seamless transition from design to fabrication.

Process plants typically include tanks, pumps, mixers, separators, heat exchangers, valves, instruments and piping systems. Head Engineering develops complete 3D models of the plant, enabling all stakeholders to visualise and review the design throughout the project.

From these models, we generate detailed 2D drawings, including layouts, sections and isometric drawings, supporting accurate manufacturing and installation.
