Oil recovery from slop oils and oily water is one of the most technically demanding applications in oil separation, mainly because the feed varies widely in composition and physical properties and often contains water, solids and tight emulsions that are difficult to break.
Oil recovery is usually carried out at a slop oil plant, an industrial facility designed to receive, treat, and recover oil-contaminated wastewater (often called slop oil). This material can originate from ships (MARPOL annex i), refineries, harbors, or industrial sites.

HEAD Engineering offers complete solutions for oil recovery with the objective to recover the oil phase for marketing or further processing, while also solving environmental challenges related to oily waste streams.
OY Phoenix Collector LTD, Hamina, Finland, a subsidiary that operates a plant using HEAD’s process and functional chemicals supplied by lucent chemicals ab, to treat oily water and separate it into an oil fraction that is sold as fuel oil.
